    Job Description:

    Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator/Head Women’s Softball Coach and the Athletic Communications Director, the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach/Assistant Communications Director is responsible for all aspects of the development and administration of a successful NCAA Division III Intercollegiate Women’s Sport Program. The program will be conducted in accordance with all University and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules, regulations, and policies. In addition, the position is responsible for assisting in all functions of sports communications.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Coaching/Teaching Duties:

    a. Teach and develop sport-specific skills in a successful, safe and prudent manner.
    b. Create, present, and maintain records of up-to-date lesson plans for pre-season/season practice drills and procedures detailing the desired goals to be achieved.
    c. Schedule practice and game preparation sessions; conduct post game analysis and incorporate into lesson plans.
    d. Serve as liaison for alumni relations and fundraising efforts for the Women’s Volleyball program

    2. Administrative Duties:

    a) Conduct an ongoing recruitment program through a variety of methods, both on and off the court with the goal to attract, select and encourage enrollment of high caliber student-athletes. Initiate new ideas and methods to improve the program in support of the University goal of a successful conference record and attainment of a regional level NCAA ranking.
    b) Serve as the Assistant Communications Director, supporting in maintenance of the Athletic web site, game coverage, writing press releases, and assisting the Athletic Communications Director with all aspects of sports communications.

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Fundraise, when required, for the Women’s Volleyball program and coordinate and support fundraising efforts.
    2. Perform other duties related to the department of intercollegiate athletics, intramurals and recreation as assigned.
    3. Uphold NCAA, ECAC and other conference affiliation rules and regulations.

  • B.S. or B.A. from an accredited four-year collegiate institution.

    Three to five years’ experience in sports coaching and knowledge of the fundamentals, tactics, and strategies of intercollegiate sports with the ability to recruit talented players for the program.

    Knowledge of conducting an intercollegiate program within the confines of the rules and
    regulations of the NCAA, ECAC, and other conference affiliations including eligibility,
    recruiting, and fundraising.

    Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Ability to function in a service- and team-oriented environment.

    Ability to function independently, display strong attention to detail, work under
    pressure, meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.

    Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and work collaboratively with a
    variety of individuals; University community including faculty, students, staff, parents and alumni.

    Ability to advise and motivate student-athletes.

    Experience with or ability to learn MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, SideArm, and Stat Crew

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Master’s Degree in a sports-related discipline.

    Some travel is required; driver’s license is strongly preferred.

    Available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Use of a computer keyboard and computer screen for periods of time with close vision and the ability to adjust visual focus plus manual dexterity are required. This position does require the ability for regular physical exertion including heavy lifting (50lbs) and exposure to weather.
