  • The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at the State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh seeks a qualified candidate to fill a half-time, professional appointment as Assistant Soccer Coach. This ten-month position is expected to begin on August 15 and will assist with coaching, implementation of fundamentals and recruiting within a high quality intercollegiate athletic program that is consistent with NCAA Division III philosophy.
    Responsibilities include: The successful candidate will be responsible for duties assigned by the head soccer coach, including but not limited to: recruiting, scouting opponents, public relations, budget operations, team travel arrangements, fundraising efforts, practice and game preparation and execution, monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes, and coordinating team community service activities. The Assistant Coach will work directly with coaching staff to develop a cohesive plan for student-athletes; Perform work related to the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, including assessing the abilities of potential student-athletes and making recommendations to the head coach for acceptance to the university; Assist with all other administrative duties as assigned; Operate and edit video and recording equipment for use by coaches and players; Continue to remain educated via conferences and coaching clinics; Assist in all phases of student-athlete mentoring; Promote good public relations for the program, the Intercollegiate Athletics Department, and SUNY Plattsburgh; Maintain a level of professionalism with your team, cohorts and opponents; perform other duties as directed by the Director of Athletics. Some travel and night and weekend work will be required.
  • Required Qualifications: Bachelorís Degree and relevant playing and/or coaching experience; Valid driverís license and ability and willingness to drive fleet vehicles; as well as to travel and work nights and weekends as necessary; High degree of care and awareness for prevention of physical injuries to student-athletes; Strong communication skills, as well as initiative, good judgment, patience with staff and student-athletes, and professionalism. CPR/AED certification required within one month of appointment.
    Preferred Qualifications: New York State recruitment experience and knowledge of SUNYAC.
